In information that will definitely be greeted warmly at Twitter HQ, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger have all long gone down in a huge global outage.
Big social media is still in huge trouble: Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and Facebook Messenger skilled widespread outages Monday morning, and many users around the world can’t use some of the most famous websites – Facebook’s services. While this isn’t unknown, the length of the outage, spanning over 4 hours at the time of this writing, is very rare – and it’s not clear when they may be completely back online.
In a tweet, Facebook stated that it was aware of the issues and was once “working to get things back to normal as shortly as possible.” Instagram and WhatsApp both made comparable announcements on — you guessed it — Twitter.
The outage caps a rough start to the week for Facebook, which was already reeling from a whistleblower’s accusations that the enterprise constantly “chooses earnings over safety.”
Facebook.com seems to be coming back for some users, which commenced with the company’s Newsroom and appears to be extending to the full website and social network. But Instagram and other services remain down.
DownDetector – a website that tracks outages of online offerings – had shown that all services were struggling in many territories. There had also been reviews that offerings with accounts tied to Facebook logins, like Airbnb and Strava, are not working.

There’s currently no way to avoid the issues, so you may just have to wait till they’ve been solved to reconnect to WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook. The company claims it has been working on a fix, though it’s uncertain when they’ll be resolved or which will be constant first.
There’s another major outage across multiple services.
